Estonia commits to improving air quality assessment and monitoring systems. In order to meet the objectives of climate neutrality and to verify the effectiveness of policies and measures implemented and to raise public awareness, it is necessary to update and expand the national monitoring network to cover most of the country's territory and thus provide the population with location - based monitoring information. Based on the updated monitoring network and the modelling system based on it, as well as the results of the health impact assessment, an IT solution should be created where climate and ambient air pressure factors are related to population health information and personal data pollutant health risk assessments. The commitment falls under the focus areas 8 and 9. It is relevant to SDG 3. Partners include Tartu University, Estonian Environmental Board, Estonian Environmental Agency, Estonian Environmental Research Centre and European Regional Fund. CAREC commits to support of the Central Asia Nexus Dialogue: Fostering Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus and Multi-Sector Investment. CAREC commits to support green economy and climate action through implementation of the “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin” (CAMP4ASB) of the World Bank’s International Development Association and Green Climate Fund in 2016-2024. CAMP4ASB provides key stakeholders in CA countries with regionally-coordinated access to enhanced climate change information services, scaled up investment and capacity building activities. As a whole, this allows for a more effective response to common climate challenges. The project implementation period is August 2016 – May 2024, and it is funded by the International Development Association and Green Climate Fund. The project’s primary piloting areas are Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The commitment falls under focus areas 2, 3, 9. It is relevant to the SDGs 7, 13, 17. CAREC commits to establishing a sustainable transparency framework at the governmental level of the Central Asian Region to assess the environmental impact of climate actions and policies in order to help countries to take more ambitious climate actions and develop their NDCs in accordance with robust data. Strengthening capacity for greenhouse gas monitoring, reporting and verification MRV through the best available tools and methodologies. This is done through the establishment of the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub (ReCATH) in Central Asia by the International Climate Action Transparency Hub (ICAT). Bulgaria commits to achieving resource efficiency by applying waste management hierarchy, preventing its formation, promoting its reuse and utilization through recycling, reducing landfilling and limiting its harmful impact on environment and human health.


Actions include:


• Financing of investment measures to ensure the necessary infrastructure for treating all amounts of domestic waste generated in the country. Completion of the regional landfills for household waste.
• Urgent finalization of the reclamation process of the closed municipal landfills that do not meet the regulatory requirements.
• Promotion of modern technologies for separate collection, composting/anaerobic degradation of biodegradable waste, recycling and environmentally friendly disposal. Completing the infrastructure for recycling and waste recovery.
• Development and adoption of legislative acts and regulations.
• Preparation of a Strategy and action plan for the transition to a circular economy of the Republic of Bulgaria, for the period 2022-2027.
