On 8 May 2019 (4:00 pm CET/11:00 am EST), the Forest Climate Working Group (FCWG) is holding a webinar on "The Family Forest Carbon Initiative" as part of their FCWG Learning Echange Series.
In this session speakers will present "The Family Forest Carbon Initiative - a practice-based carbon incentives program to engage the nation's family forest owners in climate-friendly forest management."
- Josh Parrish, Director of the Working Woodlands Program, The Nature Conservancy (TNC)
- Rita Hite, Executive Vice President of Woodlands, American Forest Foundation (AFF)
- Christine Cadigan, Director, Northeastern Woodland Conservation, American Forest Foundation (AFF)
This presentation will provide an overview of a program under development by AFF and TNC that will lead to a nationwide public-private partnership in which private companies match government funds to incentivize management for carbon on family-owned forestland. This will result in partners being able to use the carbon sequestered through such practices to demonstrate their climate leadership to customers, investors, and others. Presenters will describe the science and program elements of this innovative initiative, as well as the roles of the public and private sector partners.
This session will be followed by an open Q&A.
