The report Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources: Annual report 2016 produced annually provides the current state and the progress achieved throughout the year in Jordan's mineral resources and energy sector. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources aims to provide all forms of imported energy required for sustainable development through the enhancement and implementation of proper policies, legislation and programs; diversify sources and forms of imported energy; and to boost local and renewable sources of energy and efficiency in various sectors.
The report entails updates on the following areas: Crude oil and oil products, oil shale, natural gas, electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, geology and mining. Given the importance of the overriding role played by energy in the socioeconomic aspects and the direct relationship to the political and economic issues; the Government has paid the sector great attention to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness. The annual report provides information on Jordan's sources of energy and also lists the significant accomplishments achieved in energy and mineral resources sector in 2016.
